Being born again is a mystery, so as in as much, that Nicodemas could not apprehend it when Jesus tells him that he must be born again. In Salvation journey we grow as we learn, taking spiritual baby steps every day, we are not walking by sight but we are walking by Faith being guided by the Holy Spirit.
Keeping the Law will make us dwarfs in the Kingdom of God, because we will always be conscious of sin, then guilt and fear creeps in. Paul once said I forget things thleat are before me I press on towards the mark of the higher calling, either not claiming himself holier than thou, but he made it clear that he is not yet perfect, and not that he has already attained to it. All of that mustn't discourage us but it must be the catalyst that makes us to keep on pressing.
Salvation is the forward journey that doesn't have a reverse gear.
