About the Cape Peninsula University of Technology is at the heart of technology education and innovation in Africa. An internationally acclaimed institution, it is the only university of technology in the Western Cape and is the largest university in the region with an enrolment of more than 30 000 students. The university has six faculties offering a wide range of accredited undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Applied Sciences, Business and Management Sciences, Education, Engineering & the Built Environment, Informatics and Design as well as Health and Wellness Sciences.

Step 1: Choose a qualification.

Step 2: Gathering of documents.
Here you're now thinking like an university student, you must apply the mind or independency. You must read carefully which documents are needed and all the outline process of uploading documents are mentioned. Also beware that all document must be certified by the it is regretful that applicants can only apply online no manual application will be processed. There are also minor applicants who are not yet 18 years of age, they should submit minor declaration form of parent/guardian. Now that you know which three options of qualifications that you want to apply for, except for RPL only one choice permissible. You have also gathered all certified documents that are needed. Applicants that have never applied and/or studied (including short programmes) at CPUT before (i.e no existing student number) - Apply here. All applications are loaded onto the CPUT system. Once loaded onto the system, an sms will be sent to you acknowledging that the institution has received your application. Note, this is not an acceptance notice. Click here to track your application status and/or download admission related communication/letter. Successful applicants will also be receiving an SMS notification of their acceptance to the institution. Student Life and Residential services will be rolling out online Residence applications for students currently in residence and those applying for residence accommodation for first time. All applicants/students will be able to apply for residence. PLEASE NOTE: Due to limited number of accommodation spaces available, application for residence does not guarantee placement in residence even if you are academically accepted into a programme. Students who wish to apply for private accommodation can contact our Residence Business unit at Residenceb@cput.ac.za for assistance For Students who never applied at CPUT / Applying for first time at CPUT residence application can only be processed after you have completed your online academic application. The university of Johannesburg welcomes online applications which are fast and easy to use, here you will click on online applications. To begin your online application you need to create an account so that you can save you progress. After then you will choose which faculty do you want to apply for and fill in all the necessary information needed. Please click on step 1 above to begin with your account registration process. After this you will follow all steps and fill in your personal details, academic history and all the supporting documents, then submit your application.
Step 2: Application status check.
After submitting your application you will receive an E-mail with your student number if your a new student. Here you can check your application status and download all the necessary letters. Please click on step 2 above to check all your application status.
Step 3: Apply for accommodation.
If you have applied for campus accommodation and you have not yet received a confirmation of allocated accommodation, you may have to make alternative arrangements. The subdivision of Student Accommodation and Residence Life sends confirmation letters by October to all students who have applied and who have been accepted. As an alternative to University accommodation it is suggested that you obtain private accommodation. It is important to note that the Division for Internationalisation does not accept responsibility for any possible problems arising from a student’s private accommodation. Please click on step 3 above to apply for accommodation and check which residence is best for you. The Division is able to help identify University approved private accommodation.
